Meet Sarah

Sarah Ellen Jean

Sarah is a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and Life Coach. She has been practicing in the Insight Tradition for 7 years and began teaching meditation in 2020.

Sarah teaches both mindful awareness and compassion practices. She especially enjoys teaching the heart practices including metta (loving kindness) meditation. In the early days of her own practice, Sarah stumbled across a sitting group in a local library in the Inner Richmond District of San Francisco. She was homesick for Australia, journeying through deep grief and looking to connect with a deeper meaning in life. The teacher gave her the medicine of metta meditation.

She is a member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association, and a graduate of the 2-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program taught by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach and certified through the Awareness Training Institute and the Greater Good Science Centre at the University of California Berkeley.

Sarah has found that more than anything else, it is our ability to practice self-compassion that determines whether we meet our life experiences with aversion, judgement, and tightness – or with spaciousness and openness to learn and grow through times of challenge and joy.

Sarah is also a certified life coach through the Life Coaching Institute of Australia and Authentic Education and offers individual mentoring and mindfulness coaching.

In her spare time Sarah writes poetry and prose and explores our stunning beaches and national parks. She lives on the Mornington Peninsula with her partner, their Burmese cat called Shiva, and a Border Collie called Goku Gopala Stardust.

“We offer our blessings and confidence in support of the MMTCP graduates of our worldwide teacher training. We honor the quality of what they have to offer, and the healing and awakening that these teachings and practices bring to our world."
