About Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness?

It is the practice of being fully present to whatever you are experiencing right here and now, through a moment-to-moment awareness of your thoughts, feelings, sensations, and environment.

Mindfulness includes the two wings of awareness and compassion.

With mindfulness you pay full attention to your current experience without judgement, without labelling anything as “good” or “bad”, and without wishing that things were any different than they are right now.

When we are able to accept that life is how it is – not as we think it should be – we can live with greater ease, comfort and happiness. This is one of the profound gifts of mindfulness.

Learn Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness Meditation is a simple technique, but it does take some time and practice.

If you were to spend the next three minutes just focusing on the movement of your breath – paying close attention to the in-breath and the out-breath – you might be surprised how often your mind gets off track.

You might find yourself going over your to-do list for tomorrow, imagining a conversation you’re worried about having with your partner or boss, or brooding about a past event.

Mindfulness Meditation helps us quiet distracting thoughts and feelings, so that we can be present.

When we are present to our hearts, minds and bodies, we are able to perceive reality as it is, and respond more skillfully to whatever circumstance we find ourselves in, from the wisest and kindest parts of ourselves.

It takes time to train the mind to be present, here and now – and it’s an investment that will bring profound rewards for you, your loved ones and our world.

"Mindfulness can be defined as paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally."
John Kabat Zinn
